Sketch-y Friday

Hi all!

On this very last day in May, we are launching the first sketch for June!    As always the first sketch is a double......

Here is Elaine's gorgeous inspiration piece......

Now it's your turn!  Play along and share it with us!

Here is a run down of the rules.  We are offering a little prize to one lucky scrapper that participates in at least 2 of this month's 4 sketches.  Just link up your creations at the bottom of each Sketch-y Friday post, all qualifying scrappers will be entered into a random draw for a prize.  Only one entry per sketch please.  You have until Wednesday July 3rd at midnight to participate in any of June's sketch challenges, each linkup tool will remain open until that date!  But remember, you must play along with 2 different sketches for a chance to win!  (International participants may be required to pay some shipping fees. )

Also, we are launching something new!  Would you like to be one of our sketch layout designers?  Each month we are going to offer one lucky participant the opportunity to create the reveal sample for one of our sketches!  So if you are interested in being considered, play along with at least two sketches and while you are linking up your creations add "GDT" after your name.  The only stipulation is that you must have a blog.

Now getting creating!   And thanks for visiting!

Inky Embossing Tutorial

Hi there!

It's Wednesday and that means I am back with another tutorial.  This week I have something simple but very effective.

You will need an embossing folder, a water-based ink pad in any colour and some plain white cardstock.

Rub the ink pad all over the inside front of the embossing folder.
Now add your cardstock and run this through your Cuttlebug as you normally would.
This is what you get, isn't it pretty and unique!  You can create custom embossed papers for just about any project!
Clean up is easy too, just wipe the embossing folder with a baby wipe.  I like that a lot, I am all for easy clean up!

Sketch-y Friday and Colour Challenge Winners for May adn a Guest Designer, too!

Hello there!

Please excuse me for being a little later this morning with this post, but entries were coming in last night right up to the last minute so instead of staying up to write up this post I decided to leave it to do this morning with my 'quiet coffee', after the kiddies go to school!

First up, let's draw for May's Colour Challenge Winner as that is easy, since I can use Random.org to pick for me.......

 Random Integer Generator
Here are your random numbers:
8
Timestamp: 2013-05-27 13:19:02 UTC

Which means.....

is our winner!  Congratulations Lori, go ahead and grab your "I won at ScrapMuch?" blinkie from the sidebar!  And email us here to claim your prize!  Thanks to everyone that played along.  We hope you join us again for June's  Colour Challenge, which will be released Monday June 3rd!

Now, for the Sketch-y Friday Winner for May,  choosing this winner is a little trickier, as our entrants have to play along with at least 2 sketches to be entered into the draw for the prize.  To determine a winner, I need to check out all the participants and make a list of all of the scrapper's that played at least twice.  Then I have to draw a name from a hat, as random integer cannot help me with this one.

So after doing all of that.....

is our winner!  Congratulations Mary! Thank you for linking up your beautiful creations with us.  Email us here to claim your prize.  And grab your "I won at ScrapMuch?" blinkie from the sidebar!  Thank you to everyone that played along, don`t forget to pop back Friday for our newest sketch!

Now onto our newest and really exciting category, I think, we are inviting one entrant each month to be a Guest Designer!  This is super fun for us as we get to provide our readers with more inspiration with a variety of styles, and each month one of you gets a little perk and some free advertising for your blog!  So without further delay, our very first Guest Designer will be....

Corinna!   Corinna has been playing along with us for quite a while now and links up lovely designs, like this one......

Corinna please email me here to get all of the information you will need to be our June 14th Guest Designer.  We had several talented ladies apply to be a Guest Designer and I really hope you keep playing as we would love to have each and everyone of you join us as a GD over the next several months!

Thanks again to all of our participants, keep joining us and linking up as we love seeing what you create!  And thanks for popping in today!

Colouring Bling Tutorial

Hi there!

It's Wednesday and that means I have a new tutorial to share with you today.  This one is fun and easy!  All you need is some clear bling (singles, strips or flourishes it all works just fine) and some permanent markers - any kind will do!

Simply colour / scribble all over your bling in the colour of your choice, while it is still on the clear plastic packaging.
Most markers will give you great colour in one application with still maintaining the translucent quality of the bling .... so pretty isn't it and I never have purple bling on hand!

But some markers like this silver one is opaque and gives an almost burnished silver look, leaving it not so blingy.  I love that too - great for distressed boys pages!

See fun and easy!  Gotta love that!

Origami Dress Tutorial

Hi there!

I have a bit of a different tutorial for you today.  I have been meaning to try some Origami folding for a while now so I got busy creating this little dress to initiate myself into this fun art form.  It would look darling on a card, but I chose to create a little altered item with my finished fold.

Let's get started creating.....

Using a square piece of patterned paper (mine measure 6 x 6 (but you would want it smaller for a card).  With the back of the paper facing up, fold the paper in half and then in quarters (lengthwise) making sure your creases are nice and burnished.
This is what the front would look like.
Now fold so that the two outer creases are lined up with the middle crease..
So you end up wit this.
Flip your paper over....
...and fold the front over the back so the you are creating a  fold just shy of the half-way point.
Now fold back towards the front again creating about a 1/4 inch fold.
Here is a side shot to help you get a visual.
Turn your paper front side up with the shorter section at the top.
Spread out the bottom folds, creating two new diagonal folds.  Making a 'skirt' shape.
Flip your paper over to the back again.
Pull down the centre section. And score to create a 'v' neck line.
This is what the front will now look like.
Flipping back over, create angled folds on both sides.  Starting at the 'waist' and working up and then starting at the 'waist' again and working down.
To create this.
Fold your newly created upper folds out again at about 1/4 inch to create little 'capped sleeves'.
This is what the front will now looked like.
Next, I dolled it up a little bit with some ribbon around the waist.  And then created my altered item.
